These two pictures are just random ones I threw in because I don't think I've shared any pictures of my dorm. This is the view from my dorm room balcony. Below the balcony is the busiest shopping street in the city, and in the upper right-hand corner you can see the Alhambra. It's an amazing view. The next one is a picture of our dorm room.

Two friends and I went to the beach for the day. It was a beautiful, sunny day in Salobreña and we enjoyed a full day of soaking up the sun. My favorite thing about the beaches on the Mediterranean is that the water is so much calmer than on the Oregon coast. Since the water is so calm it's easy to swim in. We went swimming and as we got further and further from the shore line we could see snow covered mountain tops in the distance. It was incredible. Another interesting thing about the beaches is that they're topless. It was definitely shocking at first, but by the end of the day the shock wore off. We chalked it up to a cultural experience, and decided that for culture's sake, we should probably join in too :) "I was so sure I wasn't going to do that..." has become the theme quote of the semester.
My study abroad program took us to la Alpujarra - a series of small towns nestled in the mountains near Granada. The towns are way up in the mountains and you have to drive for about an hour up an extremely curvy road to get there. We started in one town and hiked to the next. It took about three hours and we had a short break along the way. During the break, some friends and I got chocolate crepes at a restaurant. We had the terrace of the restaurant all to ourselves and the view was gorgeous. The hike was beautiful. It was really green and rocky, and there was a waterfall and a stream.
All of the houses in la Alpujarra are white. The beauty of the white buildings set against the green mountain background is indescribable.
Our program director brought her two kids. They're twins - a boy and a girl. They were so cute.
Everyone says that when you go to la Alpujarra you have to eat the traditional food. We went out for a typical lunch of meat, potatoes, and more meat. I ate lentils instead.
These rugs are handmade in the small towns of la Alpujarra. Every single store sells them, and there are thousands to choose from.
